Street-O Event : March 2nd 2004
Congratulations to the multi-faceted Charlie Whetam, Sarah Covey-Crump and Rachel Holmes for winning their respective sections in the Kingston “trivial pursuit” street-O competition on March 2nd. Whilst pounding the streets they translated from Japanese, Hungarian, Finnish and Turkish, they answered questions on botany, local history, zoology, medicine and sport, and - without recourse to calculators - they knew the cube root of 125,751,501. The jury is still out however on the winner of the prize for the worst handwriting. The organiser apologises both to the competitors for the lack of illumination by the date stone on the parish hall, and to the surprised local residents they accosted in trying to find out this information. And, yes, it was Queen Victoria who said that Surbiton is not and never was a boring suburb!
